Purgatory Carve Wars Chainsaw Art Competition Aug. 2-4

PURGATORY News:

DURANGO — Purgatory Resort announces the return of the Carve Wars chainsaw art competition, Aug. 2-4. This family-friendly event is free and will be held in the Village Plaza base area at Purgatory Resort.

Carve Wars is a chainsaw art competition featuring the world’s best chainsaw artists as they transform blocks of wood into works of art. The one-of-a-kind art pieces are sold upon completion at live auctions, with a portion of the proceeds going to support local nonprofits.

Saturday Aug. 2, event attendees can purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a free carving. Winners will be announced after 3 p.m. during the auction. Guests can also bid on their favorite pieces during the live auctions on Saturday and Sunday.

Event Schedule

Friday, Aug. 2:

  • Carving: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 3:

  • Carving: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Auction: 3 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 4:

  • Carving: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Auction: 2 p.m.
