PURGATORY News:

The 2023 Pond Skim event will take place 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, April 9 with live music, beer, outrageous competition and costumes. The pond skim will take place 12:30-3 p.m. at Purgatory.

Sunday also marks the end of daily operations at Purgatory. Purgatory will be open weekends only, April 15-16 and 22-23 (Saturday/Sunday operations). The mountain is currently 100% open with a 92-inch base and 371 inches of snowfall total this year. It’s been an epic season and we look forward to a fun end-of-season celebration with great conditions this weekend.

Since 2001, pond skimming has been everyone’s favorite tradition at Purgatory. Pond skimming is a competition where skiers and snowboarders attempt to skim across a pool of icy water as a final farewell to the winter season. This is a fun event for both contestants and spectators with prizes awarded for the best skim (male and female), best wipeout and best costumes.
