Los Luceros Historic District News:
The community is invited to join Interpretive Ranger Kara on a guided ranger tour through the historic district at Los Luceros.
Tours run 11 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29 and Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26.
Guests will be guided around the site and its buildings, like the nineteenth-century chapel, and learn unique history, such as how it was rebuilt by Luis and Eliza Ortiz after the previous chapel was washed away by the Rio Grande.
Participants will also learn about other interesting characters from the past who lived and worked on the property. The tour is included with admission of $7/adults and free to New Mexico seniors and children 16 and younger.
Note: The Hacienda is closed due to restoration, so the tour will not go inside the building.
These tours offer more information about the historic buildings at the site, as well as a closer look at the people who once lived there, including the Lucero family, Mary Cabot Wheelright, Maria Chabot and more.
