From the Office of the Governor:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham met with the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Tom Vilsack today to advocate for additional resources related to wildfires and flooding before joining President Joe Biden at a celebration of the Infrastructure Reduction Act at the White House.

The governor has continuously requested the full support of federal agencies for the state’s recovery from the Hermit’s Peak and Calf Canyon fires, caused by federal prescribed burns.

In particular, the governor requested the agency expedite the deployment of teams to bolster capacity for forest restoration work and to process applications for federal assistance.

The governor then joined President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and congressional leadership at the White House for a celebration of the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes historic provisions regarding prescription drug pricing, healthcare affordability and energy and climate-related funding.
