RED RIVER — New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD) has announced the awardees for the December round of the Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) – one of the most generous incentive programs in the country. Red River’s very own Red River Brewing Company & Distillery (RRBC) is among them.
Red River Brewing Company & Distillery, which is the highest elevation brewery and distillery in New Mexico, was founded in Red River in 2018 by the Calhoun family. The business operates a brewery, distillery, and full-service restaurant. RRBC has become one of the must-visit places for tourists and locals alike.
The growing segment of the business is the wholesale distribution of RRBC’s beer and spirits to many retail stores and restaurants throughout New Mexico as well as West Texas and California. This created the need to expand the brewery and distillery capacity of the business.
“The expansion of the production side of the RRBC will help the town that heavily relies on the travel and tourism industry to diversify its economy and be a great example to other local businesses to think out of the box when planning their business expansions,” said Max Khudiakov, Tourism & Economic Development Director for the Town of Red River. “Awarded JTIP funds will cover a portion of trainee wages for up to 6 months. This incentive will help the RRBC to train new production employees to learn new skills and earn higher wages in rural areas like Red River.”
