Reminder: Harnessing The Power Of The Media – Part 2: Social Media For Nonprofits Thursday At UNM-LA

The Los Alamos Community Foundation is sponsoring the workshop, Harnessing The Power Of The Media – Part 2: Social Media For Nonprofits, 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24 in Building 2 at UNM-LA.

Learn how to harness the power of Facebook and Instagram to highlight what your non-profit is doing. Presenter Jennifer Bennett will offer tips on how to reach more of your audience, what to look for when creating content, how to schedule content within a busy office, and more. 

Bennett will provide tips and insights on the Facebook algorithms so that your fans see your posts more frequently.

Workshop Basics:

  • What are insights and how to use them;
  • Hashtags;
  • Facebook vs. Instagram;
  • Useful scheduling tools;
  • Useful photo editing apps;
  • How to deal with Trolls; and
  • What is important to raise your ‘FB score’.

The last 10-15 minutes will consist of a hands-on session of how to take great content photos with your smart phone. If interested, download Snapseed from the App store.  

Bennett is a recent transplant to Los Alamos. She previously worked for Whole Foods Market in the Silicon Valley in California as a Marketing and Community Outreach Lead. She utilized Facebook and Instagram to highlight the store and community events for 10 stores in the Silicon Valley. She said she is excited to share her knowledge so that everyone can utilize social media to its fullest potential to support each other and highlight the great work of nonprofits.
