RGA News:

MILWAUKEE — The Republican Governors Association (RGA) released the following statement today congratulating President Trump on his selection of Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as the Republican Vice Presidential nominee:

“Sen. J.D. Vance has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Ohioans and the American people by advocating for policies that will restore America’s manufacturing strength, secure our borders to prevent the scourge of fentanyl, and bring meaningful reform to education,” RGA Chair and Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said. “It’s clear that the future of opportunity, security, and freedom is on the ballot this November, which is in stark contrast from the Democrats’ agenda that has failed Americans with record inflation, rampant crime and a weakened global standing.

“Senator Vance’s inspiring story resonates with millions of Americans who identify with the adversity he faced and overcame, and it’s abundantly clear that he cares deeply about working tirelessly with President Trump to secure a prosperous future for all.”

About J.D. Vance:

Vance was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022 and sworn into office on Jan. 3, 2023. He was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio, a once flourishing American manufacturing town where Ohioans could live content, middle-class lives on single incomes. Over time, many of those good jobs disappeared, and Vance’s family suffered the effects along with many others.

Turbulence was common at home and at school. His grandmother, called Mamaw, was his saving grace. Her tough love and discipline kept him on the straight and narrow. A “blue dog” Democrat, she owned 19 handguns and nurtured a deep Christian faith in herself and her family. She died in 2005, shortly after Vance enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

Vance went on to serve the nation in the Iraq War, then graduated from The Ohio State University and Yale Law School. He wrote a bestselling book, Hillbilly Elegy, which was turned into a Netflix movie. He also started a business dedicated to growing jobs and opportunity in the American heartland.
