As I mentioned in my last column, I am hearing more reports of residents being forced to move out of Los Alamos due to the cost of living and inability to find housing.
Indeed, many young couples and families dream of home ownership and do not wish to continue paying high rents. The fact is, under Bidenomics, middle and low income households are being crushed with inflation and food/gas costs locally and nationally. Others worry about the limited options of goods and services available in Los Alamos. It was not that long ago that Mari Mac shopping center was brimming with activity, filled with busy restaurants, a gift shop, and a fitness center.
If we had a County Council that actually prioritized the success of small business owners, we would not have so many empty buildings and blighted storefronts about to be demolished. What we do have is a County Council that picks winners and losers and actively works against our town’s entrepreneurs with intrusive and burdensome regulations, onerous mandates, and tax hikes. More than ever, we must elect County Councilors who will support Los Alamos’ small business community. Check out Councilor David Reagor’s recent video on the Los Alamos Daily Post.
