Sabine Lauer has had a lengthy career in biomedicine. She worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory, private companies and her own start-up.
However, Lauer also has a background in rehabilitating historic houses in Germany. Plus, during the past 15 years she managed rental properties and completed several building projects.
As a result, Lauer is drawing on this experience in her new career as a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services in Santa Fe.
“I like to help people,” she said.
Lauer explained that she enjoys finding properties that are just the right fit for her clients, adding that she is patient and diligent. The housing market is tough; Lauer said there aren’t many houses on the market, but she draws from her social contacts and social media to help her in her job.
Lauer, along with her family, have lived in Northern New Mexico for more than 20 years. She said they moved from California and remembers the difficulty in finding the right house.
“I like to help people in a difficult process to find what they need,” she said.
Lauer assists home buyers and sellers in Los Alamos, Santa Fe and throughout Northern New Mexico. While she mostly deals with residential, Lauer said she can work with commercial properties as well.
Lauer grew up in Eastern Germany where her family ran a general store. She helped out at that store and recalled how many villages in Germany didn’t have grocery stores, hardware stores or textile shops back then so her family’s business helped satisfy those needs.
“We had so many different things … what was needed we usually had,” Lauer said.
Later, when Lauer owned her own company, she said she developed an “understanding of what it takes to run your own business …”
