Santa Fe National Forest Monitors New Fire Start

SFNF News:

Los Alamos County Fire Department notified the Santa Fe National Forest that a single tree snag (dead and dying tree) was hit by lightning during storms this afternoon.

The Santa Fe National Forest Interagency Helitack (Helicopter) crew responded immediately to assess the start. The start was located north of Pajarito Mountain, east of the Nordic Ski Area, and west of Quemazon Canyon.

There are no closures or threats to people or property at this time.

“We will monitor the start through the upcoming predicted storms and rain. Due to terrain and where the fire is located, we are going to monitor fire activity for the next few days,” said Española District Assistant Fire Management Officer Brandon Glenn.

Updates will be posted on the Santa Fe National Forest website, SFNF Facebook page and SFNF Twitter @SantafeNF.
