SFNF News:SANTA FE ― The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) Supervisor’s Office and all Ranger District offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The SFNF expects a large number of visitors for the final holiday weekend of the summer season. If you plan to visit the forest, please follow “Leave No Trace” principles:
- Plan ahead and prepare
- Travel and camp on durable surfaces
- Dispose of waste properly
- Leave what you find
- Minimize campfire impacts
- Respect wildlife
- Be considerate of other visitors.
Know before you go. Check the weather forecast, and be prepared for seasonal fluctuations, including precipitation and the potential for flash flooding. Use good judgment and basic safety precautions when hiking, fishing or camping on the SFNF.
Although fire danger has decreased across the SFNF, campfire safety and prevention is always a priority. Never leave a campfire unattended, and make sure it is out cold before leaving the area.
Please contact the local Ranger District or the Forest Headquarters at 505.438.5300 for additional information.
