COUNTY News:

Santa flew in Sunday, Dec. 17 to meet children at the Los Alamos County Airport. His presence during the holiday season is expected to become an annual event.

As children and parents were gathering in the terminal building, a call came over the radio that said Santa was 1 mile out and Airport Manager Bobbi Huseman cleared him for landing.

Will Fox, the local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter President was the pilot who brought Santa down for his quick Los Alamos visit. Upon landing and taxiing to the terminal building, kids, young and old, were anxiously awaiting him. As he exited the airplane and kids started towards him, he bellowed out “Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!”

After greeting the kids and making his way into the terminal building, he took a seat on the makeshift Santa throne. The children and their parents lined up for their chance to greet Santa with all the children receiving a gift bag and candy cane.

Santa stayed until he had heard all the Christmas wish lists and posed for all the photos. Although the Los Alamos visit was short, it was after all just the beginning of his busy schedule.
