The UNM-Los Alamos Title V PASE grant, Small Business Development Center at UNM-LA and Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce hosted ‘Business Scholar Luncheon on How to Mentor Employees’ Oct. 23 at the SALA Event Center. The panel presentation consisted of employers and a former student intern. The employers shared information about best practices, tips and how to guide and mentor different types of employees — full time, part time, seasonal, temporary, student and interns — and a view from a former mentee about how being mentored helped shape a career path. A Q&A session followed. The panel moderator is Brittany Carpenter, internship coordinator for student services at UNM-LA. The panelists included Mary Ann Novak, operations support, associate laboratory directorate for simulation, computation & theory, LANL; Jess Cooper, sr. product manager, Workplace Training at EVERFI by Blackbaud; and Rita Bronson, enrolled agent, Hartway & Associates, CPAs, LLC.
