Want to learn more about the longest day of the year? Come to the Los Alamos Nature Center Planetarium for a presentation on the Science of the Solstice at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20^.

Dr. Rick Wallace will discuss the astronomical significance of the sun, summer solstice, and its resulting seasons. If weather holds, he will also bring out his solar telescope.

Wallace has a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of California at Santa Cruz (Lick Observatory), with concentration in numerical calculations of stellar explosions (Novae, Supernovae, X-ray Bursts), nuclear fusion, and formation of the elements. He also has served as a staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory for more than 30 years.
