Secretary Of State Priority Bills Making It Easier For Owners To Conduct Business In NM Signed Into Law

Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver

From the Office of the Secretary of State:

SANTA FE – Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver released the following statement after a pair of her priority bills – Senate Bill 162 and 167 – that will improve how business owners interact with the Secretary of State’s Office were signed into law yesterday by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham:

“I’m dedicated to improving the Business Services Division of my Office in every way we can and these bills help provide more convenience and clarity when businesses interact with us. I thank Sen. Clemente Sanchez for working closely with my staff and guiding these bills through the session, and I thank Gov. Lujan Grisham for signing them into law.”

Senate Bill 167 improves the customer service experience when businesses file documents with the Secretary of State by allowing them to file electronically through email and through the Secretary of State’s online portal.

Senate Bill 162 prevents the good standing of businesses from being adversely affected when one of their registered agents dissolves their individual status in the business.
