SFNF Headquarters Halts All Sales Until New Year

SFNF News:

SANTA FE — There will be no sales at the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) Headquarters Dec. 12 to Jan. 9, 2023, due to a brief staffing shortage.

The SFNF Headquarters at 11 Forest Lane in Santa Fe, will still be open to answer questions and assist visitors with other issues.

Recent staff departures have reduced the number of designated collection officers authorized to accept payment for fuelwood permits, maps, America the Beautiful interagency passes and other Forest Service products. Those products are still available for purchase 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the SFNF district offices in Pecos, Las Vegas, Española, Cuba, Coyote and Jemez.

Personal-use fuelwood permits for 2022 expire Dec. 31. The 2023 fuelwood permits will not be available until spring of next year. Christmas tree permits also are available online at Recreation.gov until Dec. 31.

For those who plan to visit the SFNF, know before you go and “Be Outdoor Safe”. Check the weather forecast and be prepared for winter conditions. Use good judgement and basic safety precautions.
