ART News:
SANTA FE — The Susan Eddings Pérez Gallery will present the latest works of acclaimed Austin artist, Ash Almont in her solo exhibition Love and Light running from Friday, July 11–Aug. 1. Opening Night Artist Reception will be held from 5–7 p.m., Friday, July 11.
Ash shares, “Love and Light is a celebration of these two forces that inspire me most. This body of work explores the emotional and spiritual power of these elements through layered symbolism and material experimentation. My iconic chandeliers symbolize light in all its forms: the light within each of us, the light that connects us, and the light we share through community and human kindness. They are a reminder that we are all beacons for one another.
“Butterflies, another recurring motif in this collection, represent the boundless nature of unconditional love—a love that transcends strength and weakness, that moves beyond earthly limits. I hope the love I pour into each piece radiates through the homes of collectors and into the hearts of those who experience the work.
“One quote that resonates deeply with this collection is: ‘Butterflies can’t see their own wings. They can’t see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can. People are like that too.’ The show features a range of mixed media techniques, combining acrylic, collage, resin, and diamond dust. These materials are used intentionally to challenge conventional boundaries in contemporary art—pushing beyond the traditional canvas and inviting viewers to reimagine what painting can be “
