NMDP News:
ALBUQUERQUE — Following today’s ruling from the United States Supreme Court upholding birthright citizenship, New Mexico House Speaker Javier Martínez (D-Albuquerque) issued the following statement:
“Today’s Supreme Court decision is a critical victory—not just for our immigrant communities, but for all Americans.
“Here in New Mexico, we have long recognized how essential immigrants are to our workforce, our economy, and our communities. Now, even President Trump’s hand-picked Supreme Court has rejected his latest, unconstitutional movida to advance his cruel, mass deportation agenda.
“The United States is, and always has been, a nation of immigrants. Today’s ruling upholds that identity by reaffirming that all individuals born on American soil—no matter the journeys of their parents or the language they speak—are American citizens, with all the rights and privileges that title carries.”
