Pastor Granillo: Driven
By Pastor RAUL GRANILLODriven
Every once in a while we get the opportunity to take a real look into this world. And, even if only for an instant, we see how many people there are that need someone to shine a light into their lives.
Every once in a while we see a glimpse of a smile from a face that we thought was chiseled into a frown by experiences of war, loss, poverty, disappointment and fear. And, every once in a while, we allow God to light our hearts with the Holy Spirit’s loving fire and ignite a passion in us that drives us to engage in whatever it takes to bring light and hope to every human being Read More

Pastor Granillo: Finding Virtue
By Pastor RAUL GRANILLOI sat down at my desk one day and was startled when I felt something grab my legs. My daughter Hannah was curled up underneath hiding from her brother Kyle. I know this because she told me. I was confused because I had just seen Kyle watching TV in the other room with no concern of the world around him. After some investigative work I found out that he couldn’t find her so he gave up and started watching T.V. She had been hiding for about a half-hour. If hide-and-seek were an Olympic sport, Hannah would surely be a gold medalist.

Pastor Granillo: Finding Happiness

By Pastor RAUL GRANILLO
Charles Spurgeon said, “It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.” I dare say most of us can relate to that. As I put more years behind me, I find that I appreciate what I have more than I used to and that I make a greater attempt to enjoy those things I do have before I lose them.
The romantic love that caused me to pursue my wife, the moments that my kids want to hang out, the ability to comfort friends; all these things mean more to me now than they used to and as such they also make me happier. But I also know, like the rest of the world, that these things Read More

No one is too small to make a difference!
Feb. 8, Los Alamos firefighters packed the parking lot at First United Methodist Church (FUMC) with their fire engines and rescue equipment.
However, rather than responding to an emergency, the firefighters came to celebrate. This past year the Young Disciples of FUMC collected pennies, dimes, nickels, quarters or anything they could get their hands on to fund a new ministry called “B3,” which stands for Bear Blanket Bags.

Pastor Granillo: Freely Human
By Pastor RAUL GRANILLOHaving dealt with addictions and other struggles in my own life, I know how tempting it can be to compromise with slave masters for the sake of comfort. I know what it is like to convince yourself and others around you that you are a not a slave, but a willing partner.
I know what it is like to sacrifice in order to escape bondage and then to consider the possibility that maybe it wasn’t the slave master’s fault but your own for being weak; and that if you are strong enough then you can go back to that lifestyle, not as a salve, but as a willing participant in full control. I know Read More
