New Mexico Senior Olympics Winter Games Ice Hockey Returns With Expanded 2026 Roster

SANTA FE — The 2026 New Mexico Senior Olympics (NMSO) Winter Games are set to bring high-energy action to the ice, with an expansion of the ice hockey tournament scheduled for Feb. 23 in Santa Fe.
Following last year’s successful exhibition game between No Regretskys and Rusty Blades, which featured two local Santa Fe teams, organizers are significantly expanding the tournament this year. Mark Randall organizer has filled all four teams with over 50 players both men and women.
Four teams competing for the gold medal are:
- Santa Fe No Regretskys
- Los Alamos IciSkulls
- Albuquerque Wrinkled

The frigid temperatures a week ago got the ice-fishing season started. Eagle Nest Lake State Park hosted its annual Ice-Fishing Derby Saturday (1/31). Cash prizes were awarded for the biggest rainbow trout, biggest northern pike and biggest yellow perch.

ZUNI — The Zuni Youth Enrichment Project is preparing to recruit community coaches for its 2026 Basketball League, a cornerstone spring program that historically has served more than 200 Zuni youth ages 7-12 each year. Coach registration takes place Feb. 9–25.
