Hilltopper Girls Soccer Team Beats Academy

SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos Hilltoppers girls soccer team won today’s away tournament game against rival school Albuquerque Academy Chargers by a score of 3-2.

This win placed the Hilltoppers 2-1 for the three-day tournament after winning Thursday’s game against the Mayfield Trojans by a score of 2-0 and losing Friday against Hope Christian by a score of 2-1.

The Hilltoppers girls soccer team resumes their regular schedule this week.

Community Invited to LAHS’s Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet Sept. 21

The Los Alamos Public Schools Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21 at Fuller Lodge.

This event is open to the public with tickets available from the LAHS Athletic office for $25.

Bill Rice was only 3 seconds off his predicted time in the weekly Atomic City Road Runners Pace Race on the Burnt Mesa Trail in Bandelier. 
 
A host of other participants recorded accurate prediction times:
  • Tamara Jurado was 10 seconds off;
  • Artemia Rojas recorded a 11 second differential;
  • Katie Gattiker was 13 seconds off;
  • Lauraine Maness and Nick Parra-Vasquez tied at 15 seconds; and
  • Linda Vance had a 35 second difference.

Annual Jerry Bower Memorial 5K Race Sept. 20

The Annual Jerry Bower Memorial 5K Race begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
 
The Race will start at the rear entrance of the Betty Ehart Senior Center off Bathtub Row and Rose Street and run on an all paved course just north of downtown Los Alamos. The course map is detailed on the registration form. Alzheimer’s Association water bottles will be given out to the first 50 participants.
 
A donation of $25 is requested.
