SANTA FE — The public is invited to attend a ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 8, to commemorate the 114th anniversary of the establishment of New Mexico’s highest court.

Possible Measles Exposure Linked To Travel In Albuquerque

SANTA FE — A traveler from South Carolina who was diagnosed with measles spent a night in Albuquerque, leading to potential measles exposure in that area.  

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) reports the traveler stayed at the Quality Inn, 450 Paisano St. NE, from 11:45 p.m. Dec. 28, 2025, through 7 a.m. Dec. 29, 2025. 

“This situation reminds us there continue to be active measles cases across the United States,” Dr. Miranda Durham, NMDOH Chief Medical Officer said. “The measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine remains the best protection against measles.”

Artists Capture ‘Soul Of Route 66’ In Mural Design Exhibit At Governor’s Gallery

NMDCA News: 

The New Mexico History Museum presents “Mother Road: Route 66 in New Mexico,” an exhibition at the Governor’s Gallery inside the New Mexico State Capitol.

In July 2025, the History Museum hosted an open call for artists to design and paint a mural in the museum’s lobby commemorating the centennial founding of Route 66. Five artists from nearly two hundred submissions were invited to create concept artwork for the mural. In the exhibition, “Mother Road: Route 66 in New Mexico,” large-scale mural mock-up designs created by the five finalists will be on display at the Governor’s Gallery. Read More

State HCA Announces $1 Million In Grant Funding Available To Strengthen New Mexico’s Primary Care Workforce

SANTA FE — New Mexico’s primary care providers are encouraged to apply for grant funding to establish or expand residency programs and support primary care provider workforce.  

The Health Care Authority (HCA) will award $1 million in funding beginning July 1, 2026. Allocations will depend upon the number of applications received, funding requested and availability of funds. 

This Graduate Medical Education (GME) grant funding was allocated by the 2025 New Mexico Legislature in House Bill 480.

Happy New Year! 

Rainbow trout were not stocked anywhere last week in Northern New Mexico. All the stocking activity took place in Southern New Mexico. Even Tingley Beach and the Albuquerque area drains were not stocked. 

The weather has been too warm and the ice-fishing season is off to a slow start. With  the exception of Hopewell Lake, no New Mexico lakes or state parks are open for ice fishing. Fenton Lake was starting to freeze, but what ice there was is melting and there is plenty of open water. Some much colder air is forecast for the coming Read More
