SANTA FE — New Mexicans turned out in large numbers Thursday to share feedback on proposed rule changes from the Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) that advance the state’s proposed transition to universal child care, set to begin Nov. 1.

CATRON AND RIO ARRIBA counties — The New Mexico Environment Department is warning visitors to use caution at Quemado Lake, Snow Lake, and Hopewell Lake due to the formation of harmful algae blooms.

Harmful algae blooms, or HABs, occur when certain types of algae grow excessively in water, posing potential health risks to people and animals.
