NMED, NMDOJ File New Lawsuit Against Air Force

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department and New Mexico Department of Justice today filed a new lawsuit ordering the U.S. Department of the Air Force to clean up its toxic PFAS contamination at Cannon Air Force Base near Clovis.
Earlier this year, the New Mexico Legislature delivered House Bill 140 to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, who promptly signed it into law. The new lawsuit relies on existing and expanded authority under the new law.

ALBUQUERQUE — Albuquerque will host the 2025 Senior Softball – USA Land of Enchantment Championships from June 24-29 at the Los Altos Softball Complex and Tingley Field.
This year’s tournament will bring more than 1,100 athletes and their families to the city, representing over 75 teams from states including Hawaii, Florida, Utah, and throughout the Southwest. Local teams such as Los Toros (Men’s 60+ division) and the NM Wolfpack (Men’s 65+ division) will return to defend their championship titles. FBI: Arizona Woman Faces Charges For 2023 Incident

ALBUQUERQUE — An Arizona woman is facing federal charges for allegedly assaulting two individuals.
According to court documents, on December 30, 2023, Shaina Shorty, 35, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, assaulted Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 and the assaults resulted in serious bodily injury.
Shorty is charged with two counts of assault resulting in serious bodily injury and will remain on conditions of release pending trial, which has not yet been scheduled. If convicted of the current charges, Shorty faces up to eight years in prison.

The weather has been hot for the last week or two here in Northern New Mexico.
Under these conditions fishing in the early morning or evening hours is often the best time to be out. Trout in lakes will be moving into deeper water seeking cooler water temperatures.
There is rain in the forecast for the upcoming week. Be sure to bring some rain gear with you. Fishing during a shower can be productive.
