Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Los Alamos County Council will consider a pro-Endangered Species Act resolution at its regularly scheduled meeting in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building.
The resolution is supported by dozens of local citizens as well as environmental organizations, including Defenders of Wildlife and the Rio Grande chapter of the Sierra Club.

A new computer model of accumulated carbon emissions predicts the likelihood of crossing several dangerous climate change thresholds.
These include global temperature rise sufficient to lose the Greenland Ice Sheet and generate seven meters of long-term sea level rise, or tropical region warming to a level that is deadly to humans and other mammals.

According to the FBI’s latest report, law enforcement agencies reported 5,479 hate crime incidents involving 6,418 offenses to our Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program in 2014. And these crimes—which often have a devastating impact on the communities where they occur—left 6,727 victims in their wake.
The latest figures are down from 2013, when 5,928 criminal incidents involving 6,933 offenses were reported.
