Improvised Explosive Device Recovered In Taos
NMSP News:
TAOS COUNTY – The New Mexico State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team assisted the Taos Police Department regarding a call involving an improvised explosive device at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The EOD Team recovered a destructive device at the Dream Tree Transitional Living Shelter and rendered it safe. All materials found were taken into evidence and an investigation is underway. The possibility of filing any charges is pending the outcome of that investigation.

Hunters can enter the 2015 Valles Caldera Trust lottery for a chance to hunt Merriam turkeys on the Valles Caldera National Preserve.
The 2015 hunt will be the ninth since the Preserve was established in 2000 and the second since the one ticket, per hunter, per hunt lottery was established last year in order to offer turkey hunts to a wider range of applicants.
Eight hunt authorizations will be issued for the two hunts scheduled for May 2-4 and May 8-10.

Pile Burn Planned On Virgin Mesa Near Jemez

SANTA FE – Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest are continuing a prescribed pile burn on the Jemez Ranger District this week.
The Virgin Mesa prescribed burn may be conducted through March 31, if conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and weather forecasts, are favorable.
The Virgin Mesa prescribed pile burn is 450 acres in an area one mile west of Jemez Springs and eight miles north of the communities of Gilman and Cañon. Small blocks may be treated each day to decrease the daily smoke volume.
