Heinrich Urges U.S. To Fund DHS, Support DREAMers

WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., delivered a speech on the Senate floor this week urging Senate Republicans to pass a clean appropriations bill to fund the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The House-passed DHS funding bill includes a number of anti-immigrant provisions, including deporting DREAMers. Funding for DHS is set to expire Feb. 27.

Deadline For Special Use Authorization On Santa Fe National Forest Feb. 15

SANTA FE The Santa Fe National Forest will implement a key change to the process of obtaining a Special Use Authorization.

Starting this year, the Santa Fe National Forest will require all proposals for outfitter and guide services for the year to be submitted no later than Sunday. Proposals received after that date will not be accepted for this calendar year. This date coincides with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish deadline for inclusion in the outfitter pool for state license tag drawings without penalty.

I-25 /Old Pecos Trail Interchange: Earthwork Operations

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) maintenance crews began earthwork operations today on the northbound I-25/Old Pecos Trail Interchange at mile marker 284.  

Motorists are being alerted that there will be heavy truck traffic at the I-25/Old Pecos Trail Interchange. Haul trucks will be loading and hauling material near the I-25 northbound ramp.

The Los Alamos High School swimming teams earned top scores at the APS Year End Invitational Saturday at West Mesa High School in Albuquerque.

The Hilltoppers won the boys team title over Albuquerque High by a 525 to 435 count, while the girls got second to the state champ Eldorado Eagles, 641-508.
