Udall, Heinrich Announce More Than $4 Million In Funding For New Mexico Health Centers

  • Funding will create jobs, help more than 16,000 new patients access health care

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Sen. Tom Udall and U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich announced Friday that 16 health centers in New Mexico will receive more than $4 million to expand primary care services.

This includes hiring an estimated 52 staff, extending operating hours, and offering new services including oral health, behavioral health, vision services, and pharmacies. The funding was made possible under the Affordable Care Act, and will help health centers reach an estimated 16,943 new patients. Read More

WIPP: Waste Hoist Transformer Replacement Nearly Complete

WIPP News:

Cleaning and soot removal activities on the waste hoist and associated components have been completed at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

One additional repair is necessary before the hoist can be powered, inspected and returned to service.

Employees are currently working to replace the electrical transformer necessary to operate the hoist. Crews began removal operations for the old transformer this week and will continue to work through the weekend to complete Read More

Espanola Fire District Plans Controlled Burn

FOREST SERVICE News:

SANTA FE–Fire managers from Santa Fe National Forest’s Espanola Ranger District have been working with the support of the City of Santa Fe, the Nature Conservancy, the Santa Fe Watershed Association, and New Mexico State Forestry to develop a long-term plan to improve forest health in the Santa Fe Municipal Watershed.  Several fuel reduction treatments have been completed to date and another prescribed fire will be conducted as soon as weather conditions are favorable, perhaps as early as next week.
