BRUSSELS – The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) have concluded the second Joint Steering Committee meeting under a 2010 Agreement in the field of nuclear material safeguards and security research and development.
The Agreement provides a framework for technical cooperation in nuclear safeguards, border monitoring, nuclear forensics, export controls, and physical protection of nuclear materials and facilities.

One Year Later: Udall to Tour Las Conchas & Wallow Fire Sites
SOCORRO – This week, U.S. Sen. Tom Udall will visit Catron County and Santa Clara Pueblo to examine the destructive long-term effects of last year’s Las Conchasand Wallow fires and their implications for the current record-breaking wildfire season.
Udall will also visit the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (JVLA).
Today, July 2, Udall will travel to the JVLA radio telescope facility near Magdalena.

Forest Supervisor Maria Garcia reminds visitors and campers that the use of fireworks is prohibited on the Santa Fe National Forest.

In a 5-4 majority, the U.S. Supreme Court, moments ago, announced that it upholds the Obama Administration law that requires most Americans to get health insurance by 2014 or pay a financial penalty.
“The Affordable Care Act‘s requirement that certain individuals pay a financial penalty for not obtaining health insurance may reasonably be characterized as a tax,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the court’s majority. “Because the Constitution permits such a tax, it is not our role to forbid it, or to pass upon its wisdom or fairness.”
