The snowpack in Northern New Mexico is 34 percent of normal. The weather last week was warm and dry. Locally the snowpack at the Hopewell measuring station was 55-percent of normal with a snow depth of 24 inches a week ago.
Two weeks ago there were two different weather patterns in New Mexico. Temperatures were bitterly cold in Eastern New Mexico, but much milder in the Central and Western parts of the state. This week temperatures are forecast to be above normal with possibly some snow in the higher elevations.

Tangerine Bolen has become an unofficial expert in organizing civilian searches for missing elders in the last year.
In March 2024, she coordinated a search for Esther Barnes, a 98-year-old who walked away from Las Soleras Senior Living. Bolen and her fellow searchers ultimately found Barnes’ body about a half-mile from the facility.
And she helped organize searches earlier this year for 80-year-old Jose Orozco-Montijo, a man with dementia who in January wandered away from his family’s home in Eldorado. Read More

U.S. Attorney’s Office Secures Sentencing In To’Hajiilee Manslaughter Case
FBI News:
ALBUQUERQUE — A To’Hajiilee man was sentenced to 72 months in prison for voluntary manslaughter in connection with the death of John Doe in May 2022.
There is no parole in the federal system.
According to court documents, May 27, 2022, Cole Ray Shorty, 21, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, went to John Doe’s residence bringing other people with him including a juvenile. Upon arrival, Shorty found John Doe sitting in his car outside his residence.
Shorty approached Doe’s car and opened the back door. In response, Doe exited the vehicle with a bat and a struggle ensued. Read More
