This National Poetry Month, the Library of Congress has appointed Arthur Sze to serve a second term as the nation’s 25th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry for 2026-2027, the Library announced today.
Sze, who lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, was named poet laureate in September 2025 and began working to expand appreciation of poetry through his focus on translating poetry originally written in languages other than English. Los Alamos Chapter #63 Order Of Eastern Star To Host Statewide Meeting May 2 At Masonic Lodge

Los Alamos Chapter #63, Order of Eastern Star, will welcome Worthy Grand Matron Cavell Miller and Worthy Grand Patron Jay Miller to a statewide meeting in Los Alamos on May 2 at the Masonic Lodge, 1400 North Sage St.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., followed at 11 a.m. with the meeting and initiation. All members of the Order of Eastern Star in good standing are welcome to attend this celebration.
The theme for the afternoon is the “Grand Ole Opry” with a picnic-style lunch following the initiation. A reception following the close of the meeting

SANTA FE — Firewood permits for the Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) are now available. The SFNF will begin permit sales on May 1 for the Cuba, Jemez, Coyote and Española Ranger Districts.
Permit costs:
- Dead and down wood: $20 for 10 cords
- Green juniper from Rowe Mesa: $10 per cord
