COMMUNITY News:
The public is invited to attend the Second Sunday Forum at the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos at 12:15 p.m., June 14. The Second Sunday Forum program endeavors to educate the public about issues that affect the community and to provide opportunities for exploration.
The title of the June 14 Forum is “Beyond the Binary: A Workshop on Sex and Gender Identity.” This forum is presented in recognition of Pride Month. The speaker is The Right Reverend Michael Angelo D’Arrigo.
Humanity has always been far more diverse than the simple categories we often inherit. In this engaging and accessible workshop, we will explore the rich realities of sex, gender identity, gender expression, and human diversity across history, culture, science, and faith traditions. Together, we will examine common misconceptions, learn practical language and concepts, and create space for honest questions without judgment. Whether you are new to these conversations or looking to deepen your understanding, this workshop is designed to help participants feel more comfortable, confident, and compassionate when discussing the many ways people experience and express their humanity.
The Right Reverend Michael Angelo D’Arrigo serves as an ordinary in the Convergent Catholic Communion and as chaplain and grief counselor in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where they live with their wife, Claudia; their son, D’Mitri; and with Stevie and Buffy the family’s doggies. They are also the President of the Board of Directors for the Human Rights Alliance. Known as “the Rock-and-Roll Reverend,” they love playing music, both professionally and with friends!
