Topper Library Collects Donations For Local Animal Shelter

LAPS News:

The Los Alamos High School Topper Library is asking the community to show love to the many dogs and cats in need of a home by dropping off donations for the Los Alamos Animal Shelter Oct. 25-29.

Items such as dog and cat food, treats and toys may be brought 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. to the LAHS library. Los Alamos Medical Care Clinic is serving as a collection point as well; donations may be dropped off during office hours.

A list of needed items can be found here.

Topper Library student assistant Cami Heath organized the library’s first collection drive in March this year, and Team Library members Julie Kuehn and Shannon Seitz wanted to continue the support.

“We share because we care,” Kuehn said.

Seitz said, “We’ve both adopted dogs from local shelters. We know we can’t bring them all home with us, so this collection drive is a way to help other pets waiting to be adopted.”

Items collected will be delivered to the shelter in early November. Los Alamos Animal Shelter will use the listed items and will share donations they can’t use with LA Cares for distribution to local families.

Topper Library and Los Alamos Medical Care Clinic extend thanks to everyone who makes a donation. To  schedule a drop off at another time, contact Seitz at s.seitz@laschools.net.
