Jenae Velarde and Jasmine Valdez battle for the ball in the second period of the district title game between the Toppers and Pojoaque Elkettes Monday night. The game was played in a neutral gym, the Española Del Valdez Gymnasium. The Toppers and Elkettes are longtime foes, and the games are always close and filled with action and this game was no exception. The Toppers came out hot and led the first quarter 12-5 and at halftime 19-15. At the end of the third quarter the Toppers led 33-32.
