Los Alamos Creative District News:
The community is invited to join the Los Alamos Creative District 5:30-8 p.m. today, July 19, at the Ashley Pond Park Stage for music and dancing!
“Tuesdays at the Pond” summer entertainment series presents local band, Professor Penguin and an intro lesson to swing dancing for beginners at 5:30 p.m. by Atomic City Swing.
Professor Penguin started in a Los Alamos garage, a group of friends playing grooves and funky jazz to help each other make it through the lonely days of the pandemic. The quartet blends improvisation with influences from Medeski Martin & Wood, James Brown and The Beastie Boys into a danceable bag of tunes. Guest soloists join the band to take the music to new places at every performance.
The 2022 Tuesday at the Pond series is sponsored by Zia Credit Union.
Tuesdays at the Pond remaining schedule:
- July 19 – Professor Penguin – Local Los Alamos band plays fun funk and jazz tunes. Swing dance lessons for beginners at 5:30 p.m. by Atomic City Swing.
- July 26 – DK & The Affordables – Green Chile fueled Southwestern Vintage Rock-n-Roll. Opening act by local all-girl rock-n-punk band, KAI.
- Aug. 2 – The Blues Revue – Old–timey originals, modern folk, blues and the Dead. Opening act by Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA).
