UWNNM News:

The United Way of Northern New Mexico (UWNNM) has announced the opening of its 2019 Community Action Fund Grant Process.

UWNNM has moved its grant cycle to the fall to provide non-profits funding at the start of the calendar year.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 1, non-profits serving residents in Los Alamos and Rio Arriba counties have the opportunity to request funding for their programs.

“UWNNM is committed to working to address social determinants of health including housing, health literacy, food insecurity, social supports, crime and violence, economic wellbeing and transportation,” UWNNM Executive Director Cindy Padilla. “We are working for a community of non-profits who are working toward collective impacts through intentional collaborations.”

The grant process is a competitive process in which members of the UWNNM Board of Trustees and community members review applications and meet with nonprofit representatives.

“We get the opportunity to meet the incredible individuals doing passionate work in our communities and learn more about how they are taking care of residents,” UWNNM Board President Liddie Martinez said.

Decisions on the grant requests are made in December.

Certified Non-profits 501(c) (3) in good standing with the IRS are encouraged to apply if they are serving residents in Los Alamos and/or Rio Arriba County in the areas of Education, Financial Stability or Health (Social Determinants of Health).

Grant requests are being accepted until Oct. 25, 2019.
