UNM News:
In the US, more than 3.5 million parents continue parenting adults with DD/ID. More than 2.9 million adults with DD/ID live with a parent 55 years or older. This is the first generation where the adult with DD/ID may outlive their parents/caregiver.
Planning for death is a difficult topic to discuss within the current culture. The purpose of this presentation is to provide some information and tools for parents/caregivers as they plan for their death and to prepare their adult with DD/ID for that event.
