Forest Department News:
SANTA FE — The Forest Department has announced that officials assisting with post-fire response in the Hermit’s Peak Calf Canyon burn area continue to evaluate the work that needs to be done.
Multiple pieces of heavy equipment have been ordered to help clear debris, clean culverts, and repair roads. Work is intended to limit further erosion as well as improve drainage along Forest Service and County Roads.
Crews divided into to two task forces have been busy over the past three weeks and have completed work on FSR’s 637, 637A (3.1 miles), FSR 634,634C (4.2 miles), FSR 391,391E (3.1 miles), FSR 113 (6.4 miles) FSR 632 (4.1 miles)., with multiple culverts replaced or restored and drainage improved. Work continues along FSR 203, FSR 114, FSR 638, CR B028, CR B018, CR B022, CR A005 and CR A042.
The US Army Corp of Engineers is finalizing the contracts for their multiple Advanced Measures (what are these?) and look to be on track to begin operations in as little as two weeks on those projects, in addition to measures already being conducted.
Officials ask that the public be aware of the possibility of work being conducted on these road systems and drive with caution.
A reminder that a phone number has been established for those who are having issues with the QR code. People can leave messages regarding flood response needs in their area. These messages will be combined with information from our online response forms to get that information to the proper officials.
Fliers with QR codes to online forms and phone number are posted in US Post Offices in Mora and San Miguel Counties.
