ART News:
A whole field of sunshine is hanging at Village Arts along the theme of “Here Comes the Sun”. Most of the artwork highlights sunflowers in all their glory, but each take is unique and several of the artists expanded their interpretations.
This show features the work of 26 emerging and professional artists from Los Alamos County and further afield. Artwork ranges in style and media with artwork created in collage, watercolor, pastels, block prints, beads, oils, mixed media and even pyrography!
Much of the artwork is for sale and many of the artists have designated charities to receive a portion of the sales.
“This exhibit was designed to encourage artists to give back and spread the light,” Village Arts owner Ken Nebel said.
Sunflowers represent the promise of warmth and sunshine, and symbolize peace, happiness, and devotion. Nebel knows that patrons visiting the store will feel the warmth that the artists expressed, and hopes that any sales might make some small difference in spreading the ideas of peace and love.
The public is invited to visit the exhibition during open hours through June 3, and to add their own window marker drawings of flowers to the display window, which is themed “How Does Your Garden Grow?”
Village Arts is at 216 DP Road in Los Alamos, and open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, and by appointment.
