By GREG WHITE
Democratic Candidate
Los Alamos County Council
The latest figures from the State indicate we have 6 confirmed virus cases in Los Alamos.
This may seem like a very low number but here’s the math. Less than 200 Los Alamosians tested. Approx 136 at Overlook Park and 43 at LAMC.
That means 6 confirmed out of 179 and test results still coming in. 179/5= 1 case per every 36 people. Approx. 18,000 citizens in Los Alamos. 18,000/36= 500. So I am Not saying we have 500 cases here, but I am saying we could.
The State definitely needs to expand the rules to get tested and do more testing here.
In the meantime please stay the course with social distancing. If you have a medical mask or N95 mask please use it. I sanitize and disinfect my 1 mask and leave it for several days to a week until something forces me to go out. Please be extra respectful of us older people who have high risk conditions like diabetes, cancer, recent surgery, are immuno-compromised or have high blood pressure.
Check with your neighbors, by phone if possible, if they have any needs. You can combine your shopping trip with picking up stuff for them.
I read a previous letter from a lady who couldn’t get toilet paper. The Walmart Superstore in Santa Fe has toilet paper and most other products most days. If you do not have transportation to Santa Fe I would like to offer to make the trip for you. As a candidate for County Council all my contact info is public and I’ll give it here: 505.710.9201, gregcwhite@att.net.
I am disabled and live on limited income so I cannot pay for you and I cannot guarantee that Walmart will have what you’re looking for in stock. What I can do is initially buy it and you can repay me when I deliver it.
Please continue to pray for our Country, our State, our County, our sick and vulnerable, our first responders, our businesses and their workers. Stay the Course and we’ll make it through this and rebuild our economy.
