County To Host DIY Workshop For Homeowners July 18 

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County’s Community Development Department will host a free Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Workshop for homeowners 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Fire Station 3, at 129 N.M. 4 in White Rock.

Homeowners can meet with staff from the Department’s Building and Planning teams to discuss potential home improvement projects, ask questions about permits, and get guidance on the benefits of hiring a licensed contractor or completing work themselves.

Projects may range from small additions to installing a new fence or carport.

BAER Completes Assessment On McCauley Springs Fire

SANTA FE – The Santa Fe National Forest has released the results of a Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) assessment following the McCauley Springs Fire, which began June 24 northeast of Jemez Springs and burned 716 acres in the Jemez Ranger District.

The fire is now 93% contained as of July 9, 2026.

Los Alamos County Environmental Services To Close On July 15 For Employee Training And Facility Maintenance

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Environmental Services will be closed Wednesday, July 15, for employee development, safety training, certification compliance, and facility maintenance.

This closure includes operations at the Eco Station and the White Rock Overlook Convenience Center. Trash, yard waste, and recycling collection services will also be suspended.

Collection services for those impacted will be provided Thursday, July 16.

As the Department of Public Utilities prepares to issue the first bills under the new Time‑of‑Use and Residential Demand rate structure, customers will receive their last bill under the previous rate for all usage recorded prior to the meter’s reconfiguration.
