YMCA News:
February is American Heart Month and is often associated with love and spending time with those that you care about. The Family YMCA is presenting a “Galentines High Low Class” 6-7 p.m., Feb. 9 in the Main Y Gym and a “Galentines Pelvic Breathwork” mini session with Dr. Desiree Cassell 9:50-10:15 a.m., Feb. 13.
Classes are open to the public and free so participants are encouraged to invite friends to enjoy some festive music while working out.
Senior Appreciation Night 2024
On Feb. 9 the Y will also be taking donations for Senior Appreciation Night (SAN). This year marks the 40th anniversary of SAN. In 1984, a group of community members and organizations, led by then acting Chief of Police Gary Bequette, created an alternative, safe and supervised celebration. The SAN 2024 committee is planning to execute a night of festivities May 25 but the committee is $8,000 short on funds to produce the event. The Family YMCA wants to promote and celebrate local Seniors by giving them an unforgettable time whilst doing one more activity as a class. Community members are rallying, and the committee has received generous donations but is still missing a substantial amount of funds. In the next week there will be ask letters sent out to businesses, parents and community members. Donations may be texted to SANLA to 707070; it costs $12,000 to put on SAN, about $40 per student.
About The Family YMCA
