The Family YMCA News:
The community is invited to join The Family YMCA’s first Día De Los Muertos 5k at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Los Alamos Cooperative Market/Canyon Rim Trail, to Run to Remember.
El Día de Los Muertos or The Day of the Dead is a holiday in which people are able to honor their loved ones who have passed on before them. It is a way to connect with those loved ones and to celebrate their lives. It is celebrated in Mexico as well as other Hispanic cultures and allows a connection between the living and the dead.
The Y’s Día de Los Muertos 5K Run will be a spectacular way to honor loved ones who have passed on. It will include an Ofrenda with candles to light for the loved ones being honored. There will also be a board in which pictures of loved ones can be placed, to celebrate those that have passed on in a fun, unique and active way.
There will be prizes for top finishers as well as best costume, so dress to impress. There will also be fun activities for the kids at the end of the race.
