The trading card game Lorcana is coming to Los Alamos! Mesa Top Games & Toys in Los Alamos earned early approval to host Organized Play for Disney Lorcana by Ravensburger.

Lorcana is a trading card game (TCG) similar to tabletop card games, like Magic the Gathering and Pokémon, but with a host of familiar Disney features. Players act as Ilumineers who have been brought to the realm of Lorcana. With the help of magical ink, Ilumineers summon glimmers (Disney characters) to help collect lore faster than their opponent. Promotional releases included Mickey Mouse, Stitch, Elsa, Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, Robin Hood, Captain Hook and more. The first Ilumineer to gather 20 lore wins!

Hype in the gaming community has driven up production to meet the demand. Still, Ravensburger noted unanticipated enthusiasm towards the release with reported overnight lines at Gen Con that quickly sold out of the special release product. Early reviews are positive and eager for more.

As with other TCGs, Lorcana plans to release pre-built decks, bundles, booster packs and themed accessories. Mesa Top Games and Toys will be able to begin selling these products beginning Aug. 18. The full release will come tio big box stores in September. Mesa Top Games & Toys expects to receive the maximum first delivery allocation according to the approved distributors.

In addition to an initial order, Mesa Top Games & Toys received early approval to host Organized Play and will receive an Organized Play kit. Updated kits are expected to be released along with new content – currently estimated at four times a year. Organized Play kits include special promotional cards and prizes.
