‘Friday Night Dining’ Seeks Volunteers

COMMUNITY News:

Friday Night Dining, which offers fine dining for low-income senior citizens and the homeless in Española Valley and Santa Fe County, is looking for volunteers.

The organization serves 50 diners. It has two volunteer chefs that prepare the meals, but 19 volunteers are needed to work as waiters, bussers, kitchens helpers and dishwashers at each dinner.

The next dinners are June 26, July 31, Aug. 21 and Oct. 23. Meals are held at Valley View United Methodist Church on Spruce Street in Española. The food that is left is served to the homeless the next day.

UPDATE: NM 4 Closed Truck Route Has Reopened

Traffic Alert:

UPDATE: LOS ALAMOS COUNTY NM 4 Road closure has ended. Please drive safely.

Due to a motor vehicle accident on N.M. 4, the Los Alamos Police Department has closed the road between East Jemez Road (Truck Route) and Rover Boulevard.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

The closure is anticipated to last two hours. A follow-up message will be published when the road has been re-opened.

Smoke Visible From Fire West Of Española

COUNTY News:

The Rio Fire, a lightning-strike fire that was first detected Tuesday evening, has burned about 5-10 acres in a previously burned area on the Santa Fe National Forest.

Smoke will be visible as the fire is burning in a remote area that is difficult to access.

There is no threat to Los Alamos from this fire.
