New Mexico Museum Of Space History Welcomes Graphic Artist Alika Arisumi To Staff

ALAMOGORDO — The New Mexico Museum of Space History has announced Alika Arisumi as its newest staff member. Arisumi, a long-time Alamogordo resident, began his new position July 25 as graphic artist at the museum.
Arisumi has always been passionate about graphic design. At the young age of 12, he was gifted with Photoshop software by his father and used it, not to edit photos, but to design creative works.

The Friends of Coronado Historic Site are hosting a Native Artists Under the Portal program throughout the week of Balloon Fiesta.
The program will feature Native vendors, dancers, and musicians, selling their wares and putting on demonstrations Saturday, Oct. 1 – Sunday, Oct. 9.
Coronado Historic Site will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, but will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 4. Vendors and activities rotate daily; visit www.kuaua.org for daily schedules.

Governor Announces $1.1 Million For Kearny Film Studio And Education Center In Raton

RATON — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Friday that her administration has pledged $1.1 million in capital outlay to support a new film and media school and studio in Raton.
The City of Raton, in partnership with the nonprofit El Raton Media Works, is planning renovations of the old Kearny Elementary School to create the Kearny Film Studio and Education Center. The Center will launch its first training courses in summer 2023, followed by a professional soundstage and XR (Extended Reality) studio in winter 2025.

Join Fort Selden Historic Site for their “Ghosts of the Past” moonlit tours, a new spin on their annual fall event from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
This year’s theme is “Death in New Mexico.” Tours will be offered every 10 minutes starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5, and you can purchase them ahead of time here.
