Los Alamos Cellist Maximus Posada Selected As Alternate For Carnegie Hall National Youth Orchestra For 2022

At only 15 years old, Maximus Posada of Los Alamos is making quite an impact in the classical music community on both the state and national stage.

This Los Alamos High School (LAHS) sophomore is a member of the LAHS Symphonic Strings, the Santa Fe Youth Orchestra, has been selected for the All-State Orchestra two years in a row, and runs his own cello studio giving lessons to younger musicians.

Daily Postcard: The wind was blowing with vigor and it was snowing early Thursday morning when this photo and the photo below were taken through the window of a home in Pajarito Acres in White Rock. Both were taken at 4:17 a.m., just a few seconds apart. Exposure times were exactly 1 second in both photos. In these photos you can therefore see how far, and in what direction snowflakes travel. Two Los Alamos High School alumni are working with the Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) Foundation and LAHS Principal Carter Payne to name the stage at the Duane Smith Auditorium “The Ramsey Stage” in honor of Ross and Lola Ramsey.

The Ramseys founded The Olions and managed the auditorium between its opening in 1951 and 1974 when they both retired. In addition to their work with high school students, they supported the Little Theatre and the Light Opera organizations.
