The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) presents Robert Xavier Rodriguez’ Frida Feb. 13, 16, 18 and 20.
Robert Xavier Rodriguez’ Frida is a fully staged opera with orchestra, sung in Spanish with both Spanish and English translation supertitles. Presented in two acts with one intermission.
Frida is based on the life and work of the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
Tickets are $21, $41, $62, $83, $103 with discounts for groups of 8 or more, anyone 30 years old or younger, and Opera for All with a WIC or EBT card.

Daily Postcard: An ice formation spotted Monday along the Reservoir Road depicts crystals forming in the snow as a result of the snow ‘aging’ that closely overlap, looking like fish scales. This snow in the bottom of the canyon is now around 3-weeks old. During that time, this section of the canyon bottom has been exposed to the sun for only a few hours each day, with the temperature at that time only around freezing. The most active piano and wind chamber ensemble in the world, the Poulenc Trio, will perform in Los Alamos at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11 in the Duane Smith Auditorium.
Alex Vvedenskiy (oboe), Bryan Young (bassoon) and Irina Kaplan Lande (piano) named their ensemble after French composer Francis Poulenc who wrote a witty piece for this unusual combination of instruments.

Locals Encouraged To Participate In Casting Calls This Weekend For Upcoming Movie To Be Filmed In Los Alamos

Northern New Mexico locals are encouraged to participate in a casting call for an upcoming Universal Pictures film with significant ties to New Mexico along with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Casting calls will take place Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Garson Theater at 1600 St. Michaels Dr. in Santa Fe and Sunday, Jan. 30 at the Los Alamos High School Auxiliary Gym at 1300 Diamond Dr. in Los Alamos.
Running 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, aspiring local actors, actresses and extras are invited to audition.
