SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) Visual Arts Gallery opens “Our Home Gardens: 12 New Mexico Fine Art Photographers” with a reception 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22. New Mexico’s own favorite singer-songwriter, Max Gomez, is returning to Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos to perform his holiday show at 7 p.m., Dec. 28—doors open at 6 p.m.

The Zia Singers will perform their winter concert at Christ Church in Santa Fe at 3 p.m., Jan. 10 & 11. The concert will feature only women-composed music with John Tiranno, Artistic Director at the helm. A notable composer in the mix is Santa Fe’s own singer/songwriter, Susan Anders, whose song “A Wave That Rocks Me” will be performed by the choir.

Altocumulus clouds, known in Spanish as el cielo emborregao, are cloud puffs that resemble sheep’s wool. Old Hispanic lore would read these clouds as a bad omen but, in my life, a life lived mostly in the kitchen, this type of cloud formation reminds me of natillas and that is always a good sign.
