Taos County Historical Society (TCHS) Zoom Lecture “Reflections on Three Trails” by Rick Hendricks is 2 p.m., April 3.

The Camino Real, the Santa Fe Trail and the Old Spanish Trail are a significant part of New Mexico and Taos history. The Camino Real was extended northward out of New Spain in 1598 by Juan de Onate.

Rick Henrick’s research on the Camino Real focuses upon the period of the Reconquest 1692-1693 through the papers of Governor Diego de Vargas. The advent of Mexican Independence in 1821 coincided with the opening of the Santa Fe Trail and the period 1822-1846 for extensive trade. Read More

The Los Alamos School Board met for a regular meeting Tuesday, March 9. President Melanie Colgan opened the meeting with a moment of silence in memory of Las Cruces School Superintendent Karen Trujillo.

“She touched many lives as an educator and is going to be sorely missed,” Colgan said.

So much to do!

It’s just a garage. Moreover, it’s just a hobby. How can there be so much to do?

The wet clay and the newly thrown pots need to be kept wet, but the pots need to dry but not freeze. The wheel and tools need to be cleaned and put away.
